Team-mate claims it is ‘only a matter of time’ before Spurs teenager opens his account

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Tomas Holy has praised the ability of Troy Parrott and backed the Tottenham youngster to find the back of the net sooner rather than later.

Parrott did not have the best of loan spells at Millwall in the first half of the season.

The striker missed the first couple of months of the season due to injury and struggled to make much of an impact when he regained fitness, failing to find the back of the net in 14 appearances for the Lions.

Spurs decided to recall the youngster from his spell at Millwall and made the decision in January for the 19-year-old to drop down a further division and join Ipswich for the second half of the season.

The 19-year-old has had a decent start to his time at Portman Road but he is yet to open his account for the League One side.

However, Holy is in no doubt of the quality that the Spurs academy graduate possesses and believes that he will soon get his reward.

The Czech told The East Anglian Daily Times: “He (Parrott) is still very, very young, but he’s a clever, smart, cheeky player.

“He’s not afraid to go one-v-one or two-v-two. It’s only a matter of time before Troy scores, in my opinion.

“He is getting closer and closer. I will be absolutely delighted if he scores and, in my opinion, it will start a goalscoring run.”

Parrott has put in some tidy performances at Ipswich but strikers need goals to feel confident and play their best football. Paul Lambert seemed to have a lot of trust in the Spurs youngster and so one hopes that the former Norwich boss’ sacking does not have a detrimental effect on the striker’s performances.
