Team News: Antonio Conte confirms Spurs defender will miss Leeds match

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Leeds United press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Tottenham head into the fixture on the back of a disappointing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening and need to return to winning ways if they realistically want to remain in the top four while the season is put on hold for the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

Leeds were also dumped out of the League Cup, however, they are unbeaten in their last two Premier League outings with victories over Bournemouth and Liverpool.

Conte claimed after the defeat at Forest that many of his players were lacking in physical and mental energy following their hectic Premier League and Champions League fixture schedule (Football.London).

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Jesse Marsch’s side.

The Italian told Football.London that Ryan Sessegnon will miss the match and will make a call on Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski’s involvement after their final training session: “About Sessegnon, today he didn’t train with us. He had a little problem and he’s not available for tomorrow’s game. Richarlison and Kulusevski have another training session before we decide about the starting XI.

It looked clear that Sessegnon had tweaked his hamstring during the second half of the defeat at Nottingham Forest but was unable to come off after Conte had used all five subs, hopefully, it is just a slight grade-one issue and nothing more sinister.
