Team News: Conte gives update on Kane back injury, Skipp, Tanganga and Reguilon

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have been part of Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Burnley press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the match at Turf Moor tomorrow night for the re-arranged Premier League clash which was originally due to take place in November only to be postponed 50 minutes before kick-off because of heavy snow (BBC).

Today represents the first time in which journalists have been able to return to Hotspur Way in-person to pose their questions to the Italian.

In November, the club had introduced a hybrid system of some in-person journalists and others via Zoom (Mirror) but had to go back on their plans and revert to web conferencing following the Covid outbreak within the Spurs squad.

Conte has revealed that Harry Kane picked up a knock to his back against Man City but the striker would still play against Burnley out of necessity.

He also added that Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp are recovering but remain out, while Sergio Reguilon has not yet returned to training, but they will evaluate him today.

Conte said (Football London): “Harry had a hit on his back but he has to play. Even if he has one leg, he has to play. He is good. Harry knows his importance to the team.

“Skipp and Tanganga, they are recovering. They’re not ready, they’re still not ready for the game against Burnley.

“Sergio, in the training session yesterday he wasn’t present and we’ll see today. I think the situation is the same after the last game. We hope they can all recover soon.”
