Team news: Conte provides Spurs injury update on Romero and Lo Celso

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have dialled into Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Leeds United press conference from Hotspur Way this morning.

It was a relatively early press conference by Tottenham standards with media duties taking place before the squad take to the Hotspur Way training pitch later today.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the match in North London.

It is the first time journalists have been able to attend an in-person press conference at the club’s training base since the pandemic began, with Zoom web meetings having become the new normal over the past 18 months.

Conte revealed this morning that Giovani Lo Celso picked up a knock for Argentina during the international break and he is unsure whether the midfielder will be available for the Leeds clash (Charlie Eccleshare).

Cristian Romero, who went down clutching his leg for Argentina this week, is also out for the game. Conte revealed it would be another 7-10 days before Tottenham could give the defender another scan to determine how look he will be out for.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be assessed in training today and Oliver Skipp is banned for the match after picking up too many yellow cards.
