Team News: Conte reveals one injured Spurs star is ‘not available’ for Marseille match

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Marseille press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Tomorrow, Tottenham return to the Champions League for the first time since March 2020 when they take to the field in north London against their French opponents in the opening match in Group D.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against the Ligue 1 outfit who have also enjoyed an unbeaten start to the new campaign and sit joint top of the French top flight alongside Paris Saint-Germain.

Marseille have not made it past this stage of the competition since 2011/12, losing 11 of their 12 subsequent group stage games.

The north Londoners were without Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil for Sunday’s win against Fulham.

Antonio Conte revealed that Moura is not available for Wednesday night but should be having a session on the training pitch tomorrow as he recovers from an inflammation in his tendon.

He said (Football London): “Moura is not available. I think tomorrow he starts to have a training session on the pitch. He has inflammation in his tendon and I hope to recover him very soon as we need him up front.”

Charlie Eccleshare also reported that Gil is now ‘okay’.
