Team News: Conte reveals one Spurs player has returned from injury

Antonio Conte has revealed that Ben Davies has returned from injury and will be on the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow evening, but Lucas Moura and Dejan Kulusevski remain out.

Conte said (Football London): “No new injuries. We have recovered Ben Davies. He will be on the bench. Only this news. Kulusevski is still out. Moura is out.

“About Kulusevski, honestly, I don’t know, the timing to recover. I hope to recover quickly but I don’t know for the next game or for the home game against Frankfurt I don’t know.”

Spurs will be looking to get back to winning ways in Germany after they fell to their first loss of the Premier League season in the North London derby on Saturday.

Both Tottenham and Frankfurt sit on three points after their first two Champions League group games, and so the result of Tuesday’s match could have a huge bearing on who qualifies for the knockout stages.

Tottenham had several injury concerns heading into the game, with Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Ben Davies being doubts for the clash (Evening Standard), although the Welshman has recovered in time to be involved.

However, Frankfurt will also be without a key performer in the form of Gotze, with Glasner confirming that the 30-year-old has not recovered in time for the match.

Speaking to the German outlet Bild, the Frankfurt boss said: “Mario will be out, he still has too much pain in his ankle. He can’t be at 100 per cent.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While getting three points on Tuesday will make Tottenham’s job of qualifying for the knockout stages much easier, one can argue that it is more important not to lose the game, than it is to win it. A defeat in Germany would seriously jeopardise our chances of making it to the next round.
