Team news: Conte reveals updates on Romero, Lo Celso and Scarlett injuries

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have dialled into Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-NS Mura press conference from Hotspur Way.

It was another early press call from what Spurs have been used to prior to the Italian’s arrival with another early morning appointment.

There was a mix of journalists on the call with some attending in person, while others decided to dial in due to the fact they were en route to Slovenia for the Europa Conference League clash.

The North Londoners are three points behind leaders Rennes in Group G and will be hoping to avoid a banana skin against their pointless opponents as they look to finish top of the table in what could be a crunch match against the Ligue 1 outfit on the final matchday.

Conte revealed that he suspects Cristian Romero’s injury is a serious one, although they are awaiting another scan to be sure.

He also added that Dane Scarlett had picked up an ankle problem on duty with the England youth side over the international break, while Giovani Lo Celso remains out.

Conte said (Football London): “We are waiting for another scan. I think his [Romero] injury is a bit serious and we have to wait. It’s an injury that is more serious than Lo Celso and Scarlett.

“Scarlett in this moment is not available. During the international break he had a problem in his ankle and is not available. He’s injured in the same way like Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso.”
