Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Newcastle United press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.
Spurs come into the fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the back of Wednesday evening’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at Manchester United which saw Conte’s saw pass up the opportunity to move up to second place in the Premier League table.
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Eddie Howe’s side.
The Magpies are enjoying a solid season and are currently in sixth place and just five points behind Tottenham after they beat Everton in midweek.
Conte was unable to call upon the services of Dejan Kulusevski (hamstring) or Richarlison (calf) for the defeat at Old Trafford.
The Italian has revealed that there has been no additional news this week, with Kulusevski and Richarlison remaining out injured. Emerson Royal has returned from his ban and Conte said Spurs will continue to check in with the players and their respective issues.
Conte said (Football London): “No news. Deki Kulusevski is not available. I think we have to wait a bit of time to see him with us. It was the same for Richarlison.
“Emerson is back after a ban and then we have another training session tomorrow to try to make an evaluation.
“Now to play many games in such a short period you need to speak to and check with the players to try to recover and avoid injuries. Then we’ll make a decision.”
