Team News: Mason reveals recently-injured player in contention to face Southampton

Ryan Mason has this afternoon met with the media for the first time since being appointed as interim head coach for the remainder of the season following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Mason was holding his first pre-Premier League press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of Mason answering questions prior to the clash.

Pre-match press conferences continue to take place on the Zoom video conferencing after the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions meaning that journalists can no longer attend Hotspur Way in person.

Spurs will no doubt have one eye on Sunday’s Carabao Cup where they face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley.

Mason revealed that right-back Matt Doherty is in contention to return to action following his recent injury problem, however fellow defender Ben Davies remains sidelined.
