Team News: Ryan Mason provides Hugo Lloris update ahead of Liverpool match

Ryan Mason has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Liverpool press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Tottenham head to Anfield on Sunday afternoon against a resurgent Liverpool side who have the opportunity to move a point ahead of the north Londoners in the table and also have a game in hand.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Hugo Lloris was forced off at half time during Sunday’s 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle United with a muscular issue and also sat out yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Lloris’ place in the starting eleven was once again taken by Fraser Forster, who showed glimpses again of why he is an able deputy with more than one smart save to deny United.

Mason has confirmed that Lloris will not be available for the trip to Merseyside, while others in the squad are being assessed in the lead-up to the game.

He told this afternoon’s press conference, as covered by Football Daily: “Hugo (Lloris) won’t be available for Sunday. And then the other injuries, we just assess them day by day.

“The lads haven’t trained yet – they’ve just reported now – and we’re gonna see how they’re feeling in terms of training this afternoon and tomorrow leading into the game.”
