Team News: Ryan Mason unsure if first-team regular will be fit to face Manchester Utd

Ryan Mason has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Manchester United press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

The 31-year-old faced the media for the first time this afternoon since being appointed as the club’s interim head coach after Cristian Stellini was sacked after he led Spurs to one of their most disappointing outings in recent memory at Newcastle United on Sunday.

Club captain Hugo Lloris conceded five goals during the first half and failed to appear after the interval, revealing in a post-match interview that he sustained a muscular issue around his hip region after kicking a ball and was not optimistic about it.

He told Sky Sports: “My injury does not sound good, I don’t know if it’s a muscle but around the hip when I kicked. It doesn’t sound good.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Erik Ten Hag’s Champions League contenders.

Mason revealed that he is unsure if the French international will be fit in time to take his place between the posts tomorrow evening, while the defensive pair of Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet will be assessed after today’s training session at Hotspur Way.
