Team News: Five ruled out for the visit of Liverpool; one player returns to training

Tottenham Hotspur have provided a team news update to journalists in attendance at Jose Mourinho’s pre-Liverpool press conference at Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of Mourinho answering questions prior to the visit of his former side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.

Spurs go into the game on the back of the news that Harry Kane will miss the vast majority of the remainder of the season due to his hamstring tear with the forward not expected to return to training until April.

Kane’s injury blow added to the woe that Moussa Sissoko is also sidelined for a similar period of time after undergoing a knee operation.

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris is still sidelined with his elbow injury while Ben Davies is still not ready to return from his ankle problem. Club record signing Tanguy Ndombele is also out, the midfielder is continuing his on-field rehabilitation for a hip problem.

Left-back Danny Rose has returned to training following a calf issue.

Here’s what The Athletic reporter Charlie Ecclesshare confirmed directly from the press conference.
