Teammate of reported Spurs right-back target claims he is ‘world-class’ – Valued at £18m

Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of right-backs over the past few weeks, including the likes of Max Aarons (Football Insider), Nelson Semedo (Don Balon), and Thomas Meunier (90 Min).

However, one man who has been a reported long-term target for the club is Nice defender Youcef Atal. Spurs were first linked with Atal last summer when The Telegraph reported that they had enquired about the 20-year-old’s availability.

Injury problems have hampered Atal’s progress this season but the youngster is still a highly-rated young full-back. TransferMarkt list his current valuation at just £18m.

Le Quotidien du Foot have backed Tottenham to return for the Nice star this summer, although they reveal that the Lilywhites would have to see off competition from Paris Saint-Germain to land the defender.

Atal’s Nice team-mate, Yanis Hamache, has admitted that he has been left astonished by the Algerian international since his move to the Allianz Riviera.

When asked about the Spurs-linked defender, Hamache told DZ Foot: “Atal is a world-class player who has exceptional qualities.

“Atal is a beautiful revelation, he came to Nice and he impressed us all. He is very, very strong.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Going by the reaction from Spurs fans on social media, Atal seems to most people’s first-choice option for right-back. However, I personally believe that Aarons would be the more sensible option to go for as he comes with a year of Premier League experience under his belt.
