‘Test Daniel Levy’s resolve’ – Bayern Munich set to launch an improved offer for Harry Kane

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Bayern Munich are set to launch a second offer of around £80m for Harry Kane.

Bayern made their opening bid for the Tottenham man yesterday, which was worth €70m (£60.2m) plus add-ons, with the offer being swiftly turned down by the North London club (Sky Sports).

However, The Telegraph claimed on Tuesday that some sources at Spurs were of the opinion that an offer of around £80m from Bayern or any other overseas club would be difficult for the Lilywhites to turn down.

This was because selling the 29-year-old abroad would help Spurs ward off the threat of their talisman joining a Premier League rival on a free transfer next year.

Bayern Munich to offer £80m for Harry Kane

If Jacobs’ latest update is to be believed, Bayern are now ready to test Daniel Levy‘s strength of will by offering £80m for Kane.

However, the journalist adds that Spurs’ position remains that any bid for their star striker will be turned down. Jacobs also revealed that the Bundesliga giants want Kane to help ‘force’ the transfer.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “Understand that Bayern are to test Daniel Levy’s resolve with an improved offer of around £80m all in for Harry Kane.

“Spurs position remains that they will reject any bids received.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Putting emotions aside, I believe that the smart thing for Tottenham to do would be to accept the offer from Bayern Munich and give the funds to Postecoglou to rebuild the squad.

It is wishful thinking to expect Kane to sign a new deal at Spurs, which is why he is almost certain to join a Premier League rival on a free transfer next summer if we do not cash in on him now.
