“That’s crazy” – Spurs legend questions Jermaine Jenas over his Dele Alli claim

Legendary Spurs defender Graham Roberts has taken issue with former midfielder, Jermaine Jenas after he suggested that Dele Alli should look to leave Spurs.

There has been plenty of speculation about Dele’s future over the past few days after he was left out of Tottenham’s matchday squads against Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Southampton.

The midfielder was named in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven against Shkendija on Thursday but was replaced on the hour mark by Harry Kane, with the England captain getting on the scoresheet in a 3-1 win.

Reports have indicated that the midfielder could leave the Lilywhites on loan before the transfer window closes (Telegraph) but Jose Mourinho has insisted that he expects the former MK Dons player to stay (Football.London).

Jermaine Jenas told BBC 5 Live that if he would be looking to leave Spurs if he was in Dele’s shoes after how Mourinho had treated him.

Responding to the pundit’s comment, Roberts urged Dele to stay at Tottenham and fight for his place.

Only time will tell if Jose’s decision to drop Alli pushes him to work harder and gets the best out of him or if it ends up denting his confidence. It is certainly too early to write the 24-year-old off as he has proven that he is more than good enough to be an important player for us. Mourinho has also shown with his handling of Ndombele that he is willing to give players a second chance if they demonstrate the right attributes.
