The 13 Tottenham matches Rodrigo Bentancur will likely miss after latest injury blow

We have received an update on the seriousness of Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury, and the midfielder is expected to miss a crucial part of Tottenham’s season.

The one constant for Tottenham in midfield since the start of the season has been Bentancur, as Thomas Frank has continued to chop and change in the middle of the park.

That is why it came as a big blow when the Uruguayan picked up a hamstring injury during Spurs’ 3-2 loss to Bournemouth last week.

It has now been confirmed that Bentancur will miss at least three months of football as he needs surgery to fix the issue.

Rodrigo Bentancur will miss some crucial games for Tottenham

The timing of the 28-year-old’s injury is far from ideal for Frank, with the Premier League season and the Champions League campaign now set to heat up.

The next couple of months will dictate what the Lilywhites will fight for in the final stretch, and some huge fixtures are coming up.

The matches Bentancur is expected to miss:

Sat, 17 Jan: Spurs v West Ham United

Wed, 21 Jan: Spurs v Borussia Dortmund

Sat, 24 Jan: Burnley v Spurs

Thu, 29 Jan: Eintracht Frankfurt v Tottenham Hotspur

Sun, 1 Feb: Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City

Sat, 7 Feb: Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur

Wed, 11 Feb: Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United

Sun, 22 Feb: Spurs v Arsenal

Sun, 1 Mar: Fulham v Spurs

Thu, 5 Mar: Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace

Sat, 14 Mar: Liverpool v Spurs

Sat, 21 Mar: Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest

Sat, 11 Apr: Sunderland v Tottenham Hotspur

Will this force Spurs into action in the transfer market?

With Pape Sarr still at the African Cup of Nations and with Bentancur now out injured, Frank is now short of options in the middle of the park.

Tottenham have reportedly shown interest in the likes of Conor Gallagher, and one wonders if the latest injury blow will force the Lilywhites to accelerate their pursuit.

With matches coming thick and fast over the next two weeks, Frank ideally needs a couple of additions through the door over the coming days.
