“The best I’ve felt” – £25m signing admits he is in his best condition since joining Spurs

Ryan Sessegnon has admitted that he currently feels the best he has ever felt since he joined Tottenham Hotspur.

The left-sided player made the switch from Fulham to Tottenham for £25million in August 2019 while Mauricio Pochettino was still in charge of the club (BBC).

Sessegnon had a hamstring injury when he joined Tottenham having sustained the issue while on international duty with England’s Under-21 side and did not make his debut until three months later (The Athletic).

Under Jose Mourinho, he made just 10 appearances in all competitions and spent last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

With Sergio Reguilon having contracted Covid-19 (Football.London), it has allowed Sessegnon to start in each of Tottenham’s last five matches in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Sessegnon has admitted that his body and mind both feel good and his confidence is growing with each match.

He told the official Spurs site: “I feel great in my body, the best I’ve felt since I’ve been at the Club,”

“Yes, for sure, starting five games in a row is the most for me at the Club so far, so yes, I’m in a good place physically and mentally, and long may it continue.

“To feel good is obviously very important. Then, the way the manager wants me to play, up and down, up and down, the energy levels have to be there. I’ve shown that in the last few games and that’s good, getting that consistency under my belt.”

If Conte can keep Reguilon and Sessegnon both fit, it will be an interesting battle to see which of the two can win the battle to be first-choice.

Sessegnon played well against Manchester City and Leeds, but struggled at Burnley and needs to improve his consistency if he is to live up to the hype he enjoyed at Craven Cottage earlier in his young career.
