‘The boys will do it better’ – Liverpool boss fires warning to Tottenham after FA Cup defeat

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is confident that his players will not make the same mistakes that they made against Manchester United when they take on Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

Liverpool have been in a poor run of form since the start of the year and have not scored a single goal in the Premier League in their last four matches.

Their abysmal run of form is perhaps why Klopp named a fairy strong team for their FA Cup fourth-round clash at Old Trafford yesterday.

Although Mohamed Salah found his scoring boots by netting a brace, the Reds fell to a 3-2 defeat, with all of United goals coming from counter-attacks.

The game against Tottenham is now crucial for Liverpool, with Jose Mourinho’s men having the chance to leapfrog them in the table with a game in hand should they win on Thursday.

However, the Liverpool boss is confident that his players will not repeat the same mistakes they committed at Old Trafford when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After his side’s loss on Sunday, Klopp told BT Sport (as relayed by Football.London): “There were a lot of positives in the game. The start was really positive, fully in the game.

“Then we lost some balls in the wrong moment which leaves counter-attacks [open] for Man United. They didn’t score with the first one but scored with the second or third situation.

“In that moment you saw when you don’t score for a while and you are so desperate to change that… We tried in these moments too hard tonight.

“It was a good test tonight for our next opponent, we play Tottenham and they, obviously, are not too bad in counter-attacking as well.

“So yeah, we should do better, but I know that the boys will do it better.”

The game on Thursday will certainly be a hard one as I would rather see us come up against an over-confident Liverpool than the wounded animal they are at the moment. However, Klopp’s men are lacking in confidence and if we can resist their early barrage and not concede for the first half an hour, I can see their heads dropping.
