The futures of two Spurs players are now ‘very uncertain’ – Sky journalist

Sky Sports reporter Michel Bridge has said that both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso are unlikely to be at Tottenham Hotspur at the start of next season.

While neither Hojbjerg nor Lo Celso have been regular starters under Ange Postecoglou, both players have been useful squad options for the Australian.

The Dane, in particular, has been used as an impact substitute quite regularly this season, having amassed 28 league appearances so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Lo Celso showed his value to the squad when James Maddison was out injured earlier this season and the Argentine served another reminder of his qualities on Saturday.

The former Villareal man replaced Pape Matar Sarr in the 68th minute against Luton Town and offered the home side a lot of attacking thrust in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Hojbjerg and Lo Celso have uncertain Spurs futures

Both Hojbjerg and Lo Celso will enter the final year of their contracts this June and Bridge has now named both midfielders as prime candidates to leave Hotspur Way this summer.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso’s futures are very uncertain, so I can see movement in the midfield area. Last summer, there was a potential opportunity for Hojbjerg to move on.

“He had some interest from Italy, and then there was a bit of interest on Deadline Day, including enquiries from Atletico and Fulham. He turned both down. In the winter, there was a little bit of interest from Italy again. But I’d imagine this is the summer where he will look to move on.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is quite clear that Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Gil will depart at the end of the season and I would not be surprised if Skip and Emerson also follow the trio out of the door.

While there is no doubt that both the Dane and Argentine have demonstrated their values to the squad, they have to be let go to make space for midfield upgrades as Postecoglou goes about moulding a squad that could challenge on multiple fronts.
