‘The hope’ – Mauricio Pochettino discusses how he feels about Tottenham now

Mauricio Pochettino may be on the other side of London now, but the Chelsea boss has revealed he enjoys watching Tottenham Hotspur still, and thinks Ange Postecoglou has done a ‘fantastic job’ already.

Tottenham enjoyed some of their best years under Pochettino, with an impressive squad playing exciting football, and going incredibly close to winning silverware on multiple occasions.

Ultimately, the beginning of the end for Pochettino was the defeat in the 2019 Champions League final. The Argentine was sacked six months later after a poor start to the season.

A lot has happened since then, with Pochettino now managing at Tottenham’s rivals, Chelsea. Spurs on the other hand, are happy with their new manager, Ange Postecoglou, who has instilled a vibrant style of play this year.

Pochettino enjoys watching Tottenham

The two sides meet again tonight for an all-important Premier League game, and Pochettino has been asked about his feelings towards his former club now.

He told Football.London: “I think [Postecoglou] has recovered for the fans and the club the hope, you know? They are playing very good football. It is always difficult when you arrive to a new country, the challenge is massive. But he is doing a fantastic job and every time you watch Tottenham you enjoy how they play.”

On his own sentiments towards Spurs, Pochettino added: “Tottenham was amazing also because the challenge was to create a team that can compete and challenge the big sides. After one year and a half, we were challenging. For five and nearly six years, we were challenging all of the big teams.

“We were in the final of the Champions League, building a new stadium, a new training ground. To be part of this journey was an amazing time.”

It’s such a shame that Pochettino harmed his legacy at Spurs by joining Chelsea, and it’s not even like that move has gone well for him, either. He clearly still loves Tottenham, but I’m not sure we can say the same about him now.
