The insane Erik Lamela stat from Brighton victory

Erik Lamela hasn’t exactly had the easiest of times since he joined Tottenham Hotspur from Roma in 2013.

At the time, £25.7m was a substantial transfer fee and after making 67 appearances in all competitions and scoring 21 goals for the Serie A giants, you could see why we splashed the cash on the Argentina international.

However, Lamela has struggled with injuries since his switch. Most notably a hip injury which kept him out of action for over 400 days. During his first season at Tottenham, Lamela also suffered an injury-hit campaign. He struggled to shine and did not play at all after December 29 due to a back problem, and returned to Rome to seek treatment for the problem.

Lamela has looked like a different player since the final game of last season against Leicester City and has continued this form into the current campaign.

When you consider the stat below, it looks as if Spurs are finally set to reap the rewards of Lamela’s talent.

Erik Lamela has scored four goals in his last four league appearances for Spurs, as many as he had in his previous 58 combined.

Spurs fans will be hoping that Lamela can stay injury free and continue to show this type of form for the rest of the season.
