Speaking to the press following the international break, Ange Postecoglou was asked about the development of Jamie Donley, and suggested the academy talent will get a chance to impress if he continues on the same path.
With the Spurs first team hit by multiple injuries to players such as James Maddison, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, and Manor Solomon, the attacking options available to Ange Postecoglou at present are a lot thinner than he would have liked.
There are, of course, a number of youth players within the club who would jump at the chance to step up for the senior squad. Among them, Jamie Donley is one of the most promising youngsters at Spurs right now.
The 18-year-old attacker is yet to make his debut for the Spurs first team, but he has been among the substitutes already this season and many suspect he will get his big chance soon enough.
Jamie Donley could get Spurs chance
In a press conference on Friday (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about Donley’s situation, and said: “We’ve been tracking all the young guys and Jamie and Alfie Dorrington have been training with us pretty regularly over the recent period.
“Obviously all the injuries but also prior to that they were coming in fairly regularly so I think that’s the first step for all these young guys. Get to the first team environment, see how they get on with training and how they develop from there, and adjust to everything we do and the way we do it.

“We’re down on numbers so guys like him will get more of an opportunity to make an impact as I said at training and if he continues to do that then the opportunity will come for him.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I’m really excited to see Jamie Donley make his first team debut for Spurs. I hope he’s one of those players who gets there and then never looks back – he certainly has the talent to be ready for that step up already.
