‘The perfect occasion’: Tottenham star looks to bounce back against Liverpool

Tottenham suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, a shock defeat to high flying Watford, after leading the game 1-0.

Watford came from behind with two set piece headers to snatch all three points.

This has seen Spurs slip behind their title rivals Liverpool and Chelsea, who both, along with Watford, have a perfect 12 points out of 12.

After the international break, Tottenham host Liverpool at Wembley, a fixture that the Lilywhites won 4-1 last season.

Christian Eriksen believes that it is ‘the perfect occasion’ to bounce back after their defeat last weekend.

He said: “We’re very disappointed. We want and expect to win every game and losing is not something we often do, luckily.

“We need to get back on track and do that against Liverpool. That’s the perfect occasion to come back and we’ll do that.”

“It’s not something that often happens to us.

“That’s what everyone felt, everyone had the feeling that they were not going to score but they got a free-kick in a dangerous place, a decent cross and a good header.

“We had chances, didn’t finish the game and they scored from two set-pieces – we can’t be satisfied with that.

“The result against Man United [3-0 last week] was exceptional but we’re down to earth again. This is football, anything can happen in any game, it goes so quickly with ups and downs.”
