Some Spurs fans have been left excited about Steven Bergwijn’s potential at the club after the winger helped the North Londoners edge past Birmingham 1-0 and keep their 100 per cent record in preseason intact

Bergwijn came on at half time replacing Dennis Cirkin and was a constant menace for the Birmingham defence down the left-hand side.

He cut inside and picked out some impressive through balls with Blues left struggling to cope with his movement.

The Dutch international picked out a couple of exquisite passes which the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke failed to capitalise on in front of goal.

With the clock ticking down, Bergwijn decided to take matters into his own hands when he cut inside past two defenders and smashed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, leaving Andres Prieto in goal helpless.

On the back of Bergwijn’s impressive display, some fans are hopeful that he will go on to have a big 2020/21 season:

Spurs Web Opinion

As some fans have pointed out, what is most impressive about Bergwijn is his outstanding vision and technique. While we knew that he came with pace and ability to beat his man, he has shown during his short time at the club so far that he can be deadly if afforded time and space. I expect him to establish himself as a regular in the side ahead of Lucas Moura, sooner rather than later.
