‘The rebuild is on’ – Some fans react to news of Pochettino regular likely to leave this summer

Some fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports that Toby Alderweireld has told Tottenham Hotspur that he wishes to leave the club this summer.

The Athletic reported earlier this afternoon that the 32-year-old is hoping to depart North London this summer once he finishes his international duty with Belgium.

Previous reports had suggested that PSV Eindhoven could look to bring the defender back to the Eredivisie this summer, while a return to Ajax has also been reported as a possibility.

Last year, Alderweireld’s father hinted that his son could move to a club closer to his native Belgium in the future (Gazet van Antwerpen).

Later today, Alderweireld will be part of the Belgium side which faces Italy in the quarter final of Euro 2020 with Spurs not prepared to stand in his way if they receive an offer which meets their valuation.
