‘The right club’ – Tottenham player is delighted with his latest loan move

Japhet Tanganga has said he is delighted to sign for Millwall until the end of the season, admitting that he is now looking forward to getting some game time under his belt.

When Tanganga first broke into the Tottenham first team four years ago, there was plenty of hope among the fan base that he would establish himself as a regular.

In fact, some even pointed to parallels between the youngster and club legend Ledley King, with the Spurs academy graduate seeming to possess the physical and technical attributes needed to evolve into a top player.

However, things have simply not clicked for Tanganga over the last few years, with the versatile defender having dealt with several injuries and being overlooked by multiple Tottenham managers.

His loan spell at Augsburg proved to be a disaster, with the 24-year-old not playing a single game in Germany.

The youngster has now decided to drop down a division to kickstart his career, having completed a loan move to the Den until the end of the season.

Tanganga is happy with his Millwall loan

Tanganga revealed that Millwall manager Joe Edwards was one of the main reasons behind his move, having played against the former Chelsea youth coach’s sides during his time in the Spurs academy.

The defender told the Championship club’s official website: “I’m very happy [to be at Millwall]. I’ve not played much football recently, so it was important for me to pick the right club.

“The opportunity to come here presented itself, to work with someone I’ve worked with before and also been against when he was at Chelsea, so it was the best option for me to come here and be a part of Millwall.

“Fans will see me competing and giving 100% first and foremost. My style is aggressive and on the front foot and to give everything for the fans and the club.”

What Tanganga needs desperately is regular starts, which is why the decision to drop down a division is the right one. Like Harry Winks and Joe Rodon, this could help him get his career back on track and he can impress potential suitors in the Premier League if he performs well in at the Den over the next few months.
