The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has revealed that Son Heung-min could potentially miss a total of six matches for Spurs if South Korea go all the way in the Asian Cup.
Son has scored 10 times for Spurs in the Premier League so far this season and he will certainly be a big miss for Ange Postecoglou’s men, even though Richarlison now appears to have found his scoring boots.
With South Korea being one of the favourites to go all the way in the Asian Cup in Qatar, the Tottenham captain could miss more than one month of matches, with the final set to take place at Lusail Stadium on February 10.
Son’s date of departure confirmed
Journalist Steve Han revealed on social media that Son will fly to Abu Dhabi to link up with his international teammates following Tottenham’s clash against Bournemouth on 31 December.
Kilpatrick has pointed out that the 31-year-old is thus expected to miss the FA Cup 3rd round clash at home to Burnley on January 5 as well as the fourth round fixture if Tottenham overcome the Clarets.
Additionally, he will miss Spurs’ visit to Old Trafford on 14 January and could also be unavailable for clashes against Brentford, Everton and Brighton if Jurgen Klinsmann’s side go all the way in Qatar.

Spurs Web Opinion
It is a huge relief to have Richarlison back among the goals as I was quite worried about where our goals would come from without Son.
As much as Spurs fans would want Sonny to lift the Asian Cup, many of them would be hoping that South Korea get knocked out early so that the 31-year-old returns to North London as soon as possible.
