The Spurs matches Rodrigo Bentancur may miss after latest injury blow

Tottenham Hotspur have learned which matches Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur may miss out on after his latest injury.

Making his first start in close to nine months against Aston Villa last weekend, Bentancur hardly lasted 30 minutes after a reckless Matty Cash challenge saw him hobble off the pitch in utter disappointment.

After undergoing scans on his injured ankle, it was first relayed by journalist Sami Mokbel on X that the Uruguayan midfielder was expected to miss out on at least 2.5 months of action with his latest injury.

A report from Football. London later added that Bentancur had torn the ligament on his ankle and that he would be out until at least February, at the earliest.

Bentancur had just returned a few weeks ago after recovering from an ACL injury that he suffered against Leicester City back in February. Just as he was finding his way back, this latest setback must be devastating for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

If everything goes according to plan, we could expect Bentancur to return to action against Crystal Palace on March 2, 2024. It’s an absolute shame that he is out injured again.

Both Bentancur and Tottenham just can’t seem to catch a break with injuries. These incessant issues are threatening to derail Spurs’ impressive start to the season. Without Bentancur, the challenge only gets harder. Let’s hope the Uruguayan comes back in good shape and helps us in the latter stages of the season.
