Tottenham Hostpur have finally announced the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon, and we now know what number he will wear for the 2022/23 season.
After spending the entire January transfer window negotiating with Sporting Lisbon over the fee and arrangements to bring Porro to North London, the player has finally signed for Spurs in a deal worth a reported £4.3m on loan and £37.3m buy clause, signing a five-year deal with the club (Record).
The dynamic right wing-back is expected to be thrown straight into Antonio Conte’s first team plans (The Sun) and it is hoped he can finally solve that problem area in the Italian’s system.
While we eagerly await the Spaniard’s debut so we can finally see him in a Tottenham shirt, there was also the exciting matter of working out what squad number he will wear on the back of said shirt. And we now know that number will be 23 (Tottenham).
Even though Djed Spence has left on loan, who did hold the 24 shirt that Porro wore for Sporting, and Matt Doherty has left permanently, who did have the number 2 shirt, Tottenham’s newest signing will wear 23 for at least the next six months.
