The squad numbers available to Tottenham’s latest signings

After a year and a half of not signing a single player, Tottenham shattered their transfer record to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, while also announcing the signing of Jack Clarke from Leeds United on the same day.

If reports in the press are to be believed more players are likely to follow with Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos linked with a season-long loan move (Estadio Deportivo via The Mirror).

So what shirt numbers are available for the two new arrivals and those that are likely to follow?

According to the club’s official website, the following squad numbers are currently unoccupied:

No.13
No.19
No.26 (which was last worn by Ledley King)
No.28
No.29
No.30

However, with the likes of Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Janssen, Victor Wanyama, and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, all being linked with moves away from the club this summer (Evening Standard), and with Fernando Llorente’s contract coming to an end, No.2, No.4, No.9, No.12, No.14, and No.18 could all become vacant.

With the number 28 shirt available, it presents Ndombele with the opportunity to wear the same number as what he did at Lyon. The last player to wear the number at Spurs was Tom Carroll before his departure to Swansea City.

Jack Clarke, on the other hand, wore the number 42 shirt at Leeds United.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Tottenham have made a solid start to the window with the acquisition of Ndombele, they need to ensure they add a couple of more top class signings. If they do, then there is no doubt that they will be able to push Manchester City and Liverpool all the way.
