Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks set to become Tottenham Hotspur’s first signing of the summer.
Sky Sports claim that the Danish international will undergo a medical with the Champions League finalists tomorrow as his move nears completion after an initial £15million fee was agreed (Sky Sports).
Hojbjerg currently wears the number 23 shirt at Southampton, a number which is currently occupied by January signing Steven Bergwijn.
The Dutch winger took over the number following the departure of Christian Eriksen following his switch to Inter Milan.
If Bergwijn wishes to retain the number 23 shirt, Hojbjerg will have to pick another number to adorn his jersey.
The numbers which are currently vacant for the midfielder to choose from include:
2, 5, 9, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26
The arrival of Hojbjerg will be a welcome boost to Tottenham’s midfield following Eric Dier’s decision to drop back in the heart of the defence.
The Dane should help to provide extra protection for the back four and in turn allow our more creative players to focus on creating opportunities in the final third.
