Roberto De Zerbi did not waste any time before throwing his new signing, Savio, right into the mix, with the 22-year-old making his Spurs debut a day after completing his switch from Manchester City.
Savio started from the bench in Spurs’ Carabao Cup round two tie against Charlton Athletic, before coming on with 20 minutes to go after replacing Dominic Solanke.
The 22-year-old made the most of his time on the pitch, grabbing a goal and an assist against the Championship side as Tottenham secured a 5-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Not only did he manage two goal contributions, but his overall game was equally as impressive as the new signing looked to leave a mark in his debut outing.
Despite only playing 20 minutes, the Brazilian was rated the second-best player on the pitch in the entire game, with FotMob handing him an 8.1 rating – only Mikey Moore had a higher rating with 8.4.

After such an impressive performance, Tottenham supporters will be hoping Savio can keep up this display on Saturday when the Lilywhites take on Newcastle United.
The weekend’s game will be a tougher outing as the Magpies enter the clash off the back of a strong performance in their last league outing against Liverpool.
The Spurs boss is also clear in what he is demanding of Savio as he continues to challenge the 22-year-old to add goals to his game.
Speaking about Savio after the clash against Charlton, De Zerbi said: “Yes, the challenge with Savio is not to put him on the pitch and say what a player. But what a goal scorer because he has to improve the number of the goals.
“He has all qualities to become one of the best winger in the world but he has to improve to increase the number of goals and assists because at the end football is goal and assists for the winger for the number ten for attackers players.”
