The stat that showed Gazzaniga was a better playmaker than Eriksen against Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur may have lost against Liverpool yesterday at Anfield, but the margin was narrow on the scoreline, with the Reds taking the game 2-1.

However, that scoreline would have likely been far wider if it had not been for the heroic saving skills of Paulo Gazzaniga between the Tottenham sticks.

The Argentine is filling in for France and Spurs captain Hugo Lloris while he recovers from a dislocated elbow sustained against Brighton.

Gazzaniga made 12 saves during the match against Liverpool, including some incredible stops along the way.

However, it is the keeper’s attacking play that has caught the attention of many today, as the stat emerged that Gazzaniga played more key passes than Christian Eriksen, the club’s so-called playmaker (WhoScored).

Gazzaniga managed to put Son through on goal from a kick out of his hands, with the South Korean taking it around the keeper and hitting the bar.

Eriksen had a passing accuracy of just 59.3% and failed to have a shot on target, key pass, or chance created all game.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It is time for Eriksen to be dropped once and for all. He wants to leave the club at the end of the season and his head isn’t in it for Spurs at the moment. Put faith in Lamela or Lo Celso instead.
