The stat which shows just how poor Spurs have been in 2019

Tottenham’s poor start to the season hit a new low on Tuesday when they were hammered 7-2 at home by Bayern Munich, the first time the Lilywhites have conceded seven goals at home in their entire 137 year history.

The defeat means that Spurs now have an unenviable record against their name – they now have the joint highest number of defeats among all the teams in the Premier League in the calendar year so far (The Sun).

The thrashing by Bayern Munich was Tottenham’s 16th defeat in 2019, a stunning a stat considering there are almost three months of the year left.

The only other team to have been beaten as many times in 2019 are Tottenham’s next opponents, Brighton.

This stat shows how this spell of poor form has been continuing more or less from the start of the year and that the amazing run in the Champions League last season simply papered over the cracks.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is quite unbelievable to see how quickly the team has deteriorated considering they were displaying title-chasing form not long ago. If Tottenham do not manage to get maximum points against Brighton and Watford in the next couple of games, then it will be an extremely hard ask to recover from this slump.
