The stats that reveal why Dele Alli is underrated

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has had an incredible start to his career. At only 22 years of age, the midfielder is already an established member of England set-up having made 35 appearances, and is one of the most important players at a club that regularly competes in the top end of the Premier League and the Champions League.

However, despite this, the midfielder has more than his fair share of doubters. Some fans still insist that Alli is overrated, and those fans have once again come out of the woodwork after his recent performances for England.

While the former MK Dons man will never be the kind of player to go past players, Spurs fans who watch him on a regular basis know how good Alli’s movement and intelligence is.

In fact, Tottenham certainly missed Alli’s movement upfront when he was out with a hamstring injury for a couple of months recently.

Now, there are facts to back up how good a player Alli is. A statistical comparison with three of the league’s best attacking midfielders, Eden Hazard, Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne, shows that Alli is actually one of the best in the league despite being just 22.

In fact, since the 2015/16 season, Alli has registered more assists than Eden Hazard, more goals than Kevin De Bryne, and does far better on both counts when compared to Paul Pogba.
