The strongest indication yet that Ndombele could be on his way to Tottenham

Lyon have revealed on Twitter that they have completed the signing of Flamengo midfielder Jean Lucas.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has made the move to the Ligue 1 side with many expecting him to be a ready made replacement for Tanguy Ndombele who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur (Independent).

Ndombele is said to favour a move to Spurs over the likes of Manchester United or Juventus.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had made it clear that the moment when people would know if Ndombele would potentially depart when a new young midfielder would join the French outfit; which has now happened following the arrival of Lucas.

Aulas said recently to Get French Football News: “What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price.”

Ndombele is likely to cost Spurs a record transfer fee which would substantially beat the £42million the North London outfit paid Ajax for Davinson Sanchez in 2017 (BBC).

The 22-year-old French international midfielder is expected to carry a price tag in excess of £60million (Independent).

Opinion

Based on Aulas’ comments this has to be regarded as the strongest indication that Ndombele could be on his way to Tottenham in the coming days or weeks considering they now have a player who plays the same position.
