The team Spurs should pick to beat Leicester City

Is the season over already? Sunday will see us hopefully kick our last ball at Wembley in the Premier League when Leicester City are the visitors for a 3pm kick-off.

A victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side against the Foxes would ensure a third-place finish in the league ahead of Liverpool, with Champions League football for next season already in the bag.

The performance against Newcastle in midweek was disappointing, with a lack of creative flair in the final third. Eriksen noticeably had to drop back deeper to try and pull the strings which didn’t exactly help.

I’d really like to see Lucas Moura given a start, he’s hardly had a chance since his switch from PSG. Will Toby Alderweireld be given a potential opportunity to start and say goodbye?

This is the team we think should start against Leicester. Agree/disagree? Have your say below.

Lloris (C)

Toby Vertonghen Alderweireld Rose

Dier Wanyama

Moura Dele Eriksen

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. I wouldn’t play Kane as he looked knackered against WBA and was very poor. Wanyama I would play but wouldn’t risk him with his apparent injured leg. Sissoko deserves his place again and I’d also play Lamela to start. I too would love to see Moura and believe he should be played instead of Eriksen. I’d drop Davies and Trippier for the game.

    Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweirld, Vertonghen

    Sissoko, Wanyama/Dier,

    Lamela, Ali, Moura,

  2. what has Sanchez done wrong? nothing. Trippier might not be fit so may revert to back three,no Rose or Alderveireld shop window is shut

  3. Trippier is injured!

    My prediction:
Kane will start but shouldn’t and shouldn’t have played the last few games, has looked tired and slowed the team down.

Vorm may get a start or a few minutes at the end to say goodbye to the fans.

    Sissoko will start ?

    Moura will be ignored again

Reo Grittiths will be on the bench, to try and tie him down to a first professional contract.

    I think:

    Toby Sanchez Jan Davies

    Wanyama Sissoko

    Son Dele Eriksen

Bench: Vorm, Foyth, Aurier, Dier, Lamela, Moura, Griffiths

  4. I think that Sonny needs a rest; he’s run with the ball but to less effect and has looked exhausted by the near-fifty matches he’ll have played in for us this season. Dele has played about as much Sonny. Davidson Sanchez too has played almost as many games. So I’d take the opportunity to play Toby for his defensive intelligence and good diagonal passing from the back, especially if Dier, who can also pass well, is not selected. It’d be good to see Lucas Moura play a big chunk of the match, and Lamela who is full of energy and bite. Sissoko to link defence and attack, and perhaps a game for Kyle Walker Peters if he is fit. Not all can play buy all are appreciated for their skill, effort and teamwork.
