The ten players Spurs should sell this summer in mass overhaul

Tottenham Hotspur will surely finally undergo a much-needed overhaul of their squad this summer, as Pochettino looks to invest in some youthful new talent.

With a number of Spurs contracts coming to a close, there will likely be a number of outgoings to make space for the fresh spaces.

But which players should Poch and Levy sell? Here are ten Spurs stars who should be sold this summer:

Vincent Janssen – This one speaks for itself. He has been frozen out of the squad all season, never made an impression, and now Spurs are trying to shop window him before the summer.

Serge Aurier – Has rarely looked comfortable at right back, always a liability. Although Trippier has had a bad season too, he should be kept over Aurier purely for the Prem experience and homegrown player rule.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou – Another one who has never made much of an impact. Spurs need to stop loaning him out, cut their losses, and get his wages off the bill.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – Once looked promising, but never seems to cut it when he goes out on loan. Perhaps it is time to move him along.

Marcus Edwards – Another youngster who has never quite lived up to the billing. Pochettino must now decide whether to give him a first team chance or to offload him. With the emergence of Troy Parrott, I would say sell.

Josh Onomah – Much like Carter-Vickers, he never seems to be popular when he goes out on loan. A problem with work ethic and consistency, I doubt he will make it at Spurs.

Erik Lamela – A shame, because on his day Lamela is a great player. Unfortunately his injuries have always got the better of him, and perhaps it is time to recoup some money.

Hugo Lloris – A permanent fixture in the Tottenham goal for a number of years and a true legend. However, unless he regains consistency, it may be time to look to the future.

Victor Wanyama – Another great player, but if Spurs want to bring in a new central midfielder, Wanyama would likely find himself fifth in line, and should be moved on as a result.

Christian Eriksen – I would love to keep Eriksen if he is willing to sign a new deal. But, if it’s a choice of keeping him for another year and losing him on a free, or selling him now, I would take the money.

What do you think? Did we miss any out? Do some of the above deserve to stay?

  1. Kieran Trippier – Shocking season – he’s frailty has cost games this season – if we can get him – Wan-Bissaka is a much better replacement and walker-peters would learn a lot from this kid
Eric Dier – Not quite good enough and should have been sold when man utd wanted him
Llorente – will probably go and won’t be rewarded with a new contract

  2. Dier, I think Eriksen and Toby could sign a new contract. Dier should make way (he would fetch £55M plus, Gomez from Barca and Grealish would be better replacements, Trippier and Aurier should go – one of Arrons and Wan Bissaka could replace them with KWP as back up. In Arrons, Anderson, Sess, Grealish, Gomez and Zaha

  3. Harsh selling lloris. He makes errors but has been out best keeper since clemence and shoyld be retained. For me i think we should do the below

SELL: Aurier, Rose, Ccv, Toby (forced), Wanyama, lamela, onomah, eriksen (only if doesnt sign), llorente

SIGN: Wan-bissaka, Chilwell or Tierney(celtic), lacelles(newcastle), ndombele, Sessengnon, grealish, Isco or Havertz (if eriksen goes), a young striker

  4. Must Keep:
Kane, Eriksen, Son, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Alli

    Should get rid of:
    nKoudou, Janssen, Aurier,

Do not want to break up this squad, guy’s like Dier, Wanyama, Lamela and Llorrente could go and be replaced with better but we want to keep squad harmony and these guys are all close friends with key members of the squad, that’s important. These players have also proved that they have something to offer when fit so lets get rid of the total dead wood and replace with real quality and not break up a squad that has matured well together and keep the likes of Lamela, Wanyama and Dier as squad players as we need them to compete for cups.
Keep Llorrente around for another year as he has made a good contribution this year and seems happy to sit on the bench for long periods, Son is the backup for Kane when Kane’s injured anyway so we’re ok there I think, look to integrate Parrott into the squad with a view to him replacing Llorrente in the short term, no need to buy a striker, we need to buy 2 top class central midfielders, a top class right back, maybe a top left back and one more attacking midfielder\forward (I’m hoping Gareth Bale but that’s probably dreamland)
