‘There are still four more days’ – Pochettino refuses to shut the door on more signings

Tottenham Hotspur are now just five days away from the opening match in their 2019/20 Premier League season, with Aston Villa visiting the new Spurs stadium on Saturday.

However, perhaps even more importantly, there are only three days left until the summer transfer window slams shut again.

Spurs were initially busy this summer when they broke their club-record fee to bring in Tanguy Ndombele and also invested in promising teen Jack Clarke both on the same day (BBC).

However, since those two transfers in almost as many hours, Spurs haven’t signed another new player to add to their squad, despite recent departures of Mousa Dembele, Kieran Trippier, Fernando Llorente, Vincent Janssen, and Michel Vorm.

There are reports suggest that Spurs may still add to their squad, with the Mirror claiming late last month that the Lilywhites were close to Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.

Another report from the Evening Standard further claimed that Spurs are determined to sign either Lo Celso or Bruno Fernandes before the deadline.

Pochettino has also refused to shut the door on further incomings, but is happy with his team already (Football London): “I am happy with my squad. You can see today a lot of younger players. In every season we are always open to improve the squad and to try to find the right players to be stronger and better and there are still four days. We’ll see what happens in the next few days.”
