Former Leeds United defender, Danny Mills has become the latest pundit to question Spurs’ decision to increase the capacity of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Football.London reported last week that the North Londoners are set to add another 547 seats to the stadium, pushing it up from its current capacity of 62,303 to 62,850, after plans were approved by Haringey Council.
Tottenham can already boast of having the second-biggest club ground in the Premier League after Old Trafford, but the additional seats would have helped them to accommodate even more spectators at the venue.
Former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson labelled the club’s plans to add more seats as ‘nonsensical’ and questioned why the club could not have built the stadium for the capacity they wanted in the first place.
Mills also does not appear to be a fan of the club’s plans to push ahead with an increase in capacity. When asked about the development, he told Football Insider: “I’m not sure why they’re increasing it, they can’t get any fans in at the moment.
“There have been better ideas hasn’t there?
“What Tottenham have done with everything that’s come about has been magnificent with that stadium.
“Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to have concerts and all those sorts of things so that’s the only downside to Tottenham at the moment.
“They haven’t been able to do what they want to do.”
