‘There is a feeling’ – Journalist makes claim about Spurs dressing room under Mason

Dan Kilpatrick has reported that there is now a feeling within the Tottenham squad that the shackles are off and they can express themselves better.

Soon after Antonio Conte’s sacking, it emerged that some players in the squad had grown tired of the Italian’s cautious approach and even pleaded with him to take the handbrake off, which he refused to do (Daily Mail).

That was perhaps why Tottenham’s decision to put Cristian Stellini in charge came as a surprise since the 48-year-old is of the same school of thought as Conte.

While Ryan Mason has not changed the system since replacing Stellini at the helm, there has been a noticeable difference in the team’s attacking play.

Although Tottenham have just one point to show from their two matches against Manchester United and Liverpool, they have created a lot more chances in those games than they did for the past few months.

Kilpatrick believes that the players now want to express themselves as they believe that the pressure is off.

The journalist said on The Tottenham Way Podcast: “I think it will be a good game, there is a feeling now within the team at Spurs, they feel as though the shackles are off and there is a lethargy almost with the crowd and everything.

“There has been a fightback against the idea that the crowd would crucify the team and the fans are resigned now, and this game against Palace could be one where the teams just fly at it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While we have been willing to press higher up the pitch under Mason, our defensive shortcomings have continued to cost us, which is once again my main worry heading into the Palace clash.

If we commit bodies forward and look to take the game to the Eagles, we run the risk of leaving our backline exposed.
