Tom Barclay has said that Tottenham Hotspur remain well-placed to secure Conor Gallagher from Chelsea when the transfer window opens.
The speculation over Gallagher’s future shows no signs of dissipating as the summer transfer window edges closer, with the midfielder having just 12 months left to run on his contract.
On Monday, Dean Jones revealed in his column for Sportscasting that Mauricio Pochettino’s potential departure from Chelsea this summer could increase the likelihood of the midfielder leaving as the Argentine is keen for the England international to stay.
The report added that some members of the Blues board see their academy graduate as the most sellable asset and are expected to demand £50m for him this summer.
Jones added that while Ange Postecoglou’s men remain keen on signing the 24-year-old, they had no intention of spending £50m on him.
Conor Gallagher to Spurs has a good chance of happening
However, Jacobs believes there is still a decent chance that Gallagher will end up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
The journalist said on The Tottenham Way Podcast: “Back to the game against Chelsea, they were really good the other day. Gallagher was very impressive and I’m sure a lot of fans will be watching him closely given there’s a good chance he joins Spurs this summer.”

There is no doubt that Chelsea would put Gallagher up for sale and they would need to cash in on the midfielder by the end of June, due to their PSR issues. The 24-year-old might be leaning towards a move to Spurs but the Blues might be hesitant to sell their academy rivals to their fiercest rivals.
