‘There is no doubt’ – Son makes big claim about Spurs ‘partner’ Harry Kane

Son Heung-min has described Harry Kane as ‘the best striker in the world’ and backed the England captain to once again finish near the top of the goalscoring charts next season.

Kane’s future seemed up in the air this time last season, with the striker seemingly pushing for a move to Manchester City (The Athletic).

After Spurs managed to keep hold of their star man, the 28-year-old had a poor start to the 2021/22 campaign and looked a shadow of his former self.

In fact, some pundits were critical of Tottenham’s decision not to cash in on him, and suggested that the striker was past his best (talkSPORT).

However, since Antonio Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the helm in November, Kane has arguably been one of the best players in the Premier League.

The striker admitted a few days ago that Conte has transformed his fitness, and stated that he hopes Tottenham can do ‘something special’ in the Italian’s first full season in charge (Football.London).

Son has now reminded those who doubted Kane during his lean patch last season just how wrong they were, and the South Korean backed his striker partner to continue the hot goalscoring streak.

He told The Athletic about Kane: “We talked about this last season – Harry didn’t score at the start of the season but how many goals did he finish with?

“Goals with Harry I think there is no doubt. We don’t have to worry about him scoring goals because he is, for me, the best partner, the best striker in the world still. He’s working hard, he’s an unselfish player.”

I believe that Kane could have the best goal return of his career next season assuming he stays fit throughout the campaign.

The 29-year-old now looks fitter than he has been since 2018 and given the number of chances we created each game towards the end of last season, I think he stands a decent chance of breaching the 30 league goal mark.
