“There’s interest from Tottenham” – Fabrizio Romano provides latest on Christian Eriksen’s future

Christian Eriksen will meet with Brentford at the end of the season to decide upon his future, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 30-year-old joined the Premier League newcomers on a free transfer before the January transfer window closed on a short-term deal until the end of the current campaign, which does not include any option of the Bees being able to trigger an extension.

Romano has claimed that while there is interest in the Dane from Tottenham, no talks have been held with his former club and a decision will not be made in the immediate future.

Eriksen has made an impressive impact at Brentford just six months after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020.

The midfielder has played a key role in helping Thomas Frank’s side to almost certainly secure their top flight status for another season given they are currently fourteen points above the drop zone.

Tottenham are desperate for a playmaker, which was evident to see during Saturday’s defeat at home to Brighton. Whether Eriksen would entertain a return to north London given the cloud he left under when he joined Inter Milan following a difficult last twelve months at the club remains to be seen.

The reliance on Harry Kane to drop deep and play a killer pass into the runners behind is something that Brighton nullified almost from kick-off and the addition of Eriksen would allow them to have another facet to their game.
