It has largely been a season to forget for Kieran Trippier, despite tasting such highs for England at the World Cup in Russia last year.
Tripps came into the campaign fatigued and carrying a groin injury that has kept him out on and off through the season.
When he has played, Trippier has been a liability defensively, and has nowhere near made up for that in an attacking sense either.
This is a shame, as I was hoping that the World Cup could really be a spring board to take him to the next level, but that simply hasn’t happened.
However, I still maintain that he has been used as a scapegoat this season, and the fans and Poch should remain behind him as he can still get back to his best.
Last night in the win against City, Tripps was one of Tottenham’s best players, and these stats prove it.
Trippier had:
The most tackles won in the match with five
The most ball recoveries with ten
The second-most interceptions with two
The second-most crosses with six
And the second-most chances created with two
Amazing performance from Tripps!
