‘They definitely struggle’- Dion Dublin identifies the one thing that can derail Tottenham’s season

Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin believes that one thing that can derail Tottenham Hotspur’s season is an injury to Harry Kane.

Tottenham have been backed by some pundits to upset the apple cart and challenge for the Premier League title this season with the North Londoners currently top of the table.

This campaign already looks much more open than the last few years when Manchester City and Liverpool seemed to be streets ahead of everyone else.

The Reds’ injury crisis has only served to increase the possibility of an underdog possibly stealing a march on the top two.

However, Dublin believes that other clubs will also be severely impacted if they were to lose star players to injury.

He suggested that losing Kane would have a similar impact on Spurs as losing Virgil van Dijk has had on Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The England captain has been sidelined with injury for a number of months in each of the last two seasons and Tottenham will be hoping that things are different this campaign (transfermarkt).

Speaking to Premier League productions, Dublin said: “Harry Kane, I still think he’s the best in the world at what he does, which is score goals. If he’s not there then they definitely struggle.

“With Van Dijk not being fit for the season now for Liverpool, I am saying that Liverpool are going to struggle to be in that fight right until the end because of Van Dijk.

“If Kane is not there for Spurs then I am thinking exactly the same thing. He has the perfect physique for a centre-forward. He is 6ft3/6ft4, maybe? Slender, strong, quick and powerful.

“His vision is amazing. He can be a ten if he wants to drop into those pockets and pick a pass. Players react to Kane.”
