Tottenham Hotspur claimed all three points in the first North London Derby at their new stadium today as they ran away 2-1 winners against the Gunners.
Arsenal got off to a dream start when Lacazette thundered a shot past Lloris and into the top corner in the first-half after just 17 minutes.
However, the Lilywhites hit back within minutes as Heung-min Son latched onto a loose pass at the back before chipping the ball over Martinez.
Ben Davies and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both went on to rattle the crossbar while the scores remained level at 1-1, the former lashing a shot from 35 yards.
However, it was eventually the unlikely Toby Alderweireld who popped up with a late winner for the home side as he nodded home a Son corner.
Jose Mourinho had plenty of praise for his team after the final whistle, particularly as Spurs had two days less than Arsenal to prepare for the fixture.
Mourinho said (Football London): “Big credit to the players because they were really fantastic I think. What I asked from them tactically they gave me, but what I asked from them from an emotional point of view they gave me even more.
“They were fantastic. They felt the game as a fan. They wore their skin. We spoke about it not being a great season for the fans to enjoy. It’s really important for that and on top of that, very, very important the fact that now we can fight until the end for a Europa League position. I think without a victory today that would have been really difficult so I’m really proud of the players. I thanked them for their attitude and commitment.”
