‘They must know what they’re doing’ – Agent says Spurs have a plan for 22-year-old

Romanian football agent Victor Becali has said that Tottenham Hotspur would not have spent millions to bring Radu Dragusin to the club if they did not think the centre-back could become an important player for the side.

While it was always clear that Dragusin was going to have his work cut out to displace Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven from the starting eleven, the 22-year-old might have perhaps hoped to have got more game time than he has in North London.

The centre-back has started just two games since his switch from Genoa and looks unlikely to get another start this season unless there is an injury to the Argentine or the Dutchman.

Dragusin just needs time to settle at Spurs

Dragusin’s struggles at Spurs have understandably been a big topic of discussion back in Romania, with the defender being crucial to the nation’s chances of doing well in the Euros this summer.

The latest to discuss the centre-back’s fortunes is businessman and agent Victor Becali, who insisted that this kind of competition for places is normal at a club like Spurs and suggested that Ange Postecoglou would have a plan for the former Genoa man.

Becali told Romanian outlet Sport “It takes time for Dragusin. No, that’s it, he’s played, a player next to him scored… No! And I have no reason to praise Dragușin. He’s a young boy, he has very, very strong competition. He plays, he competes with maybe two of the best central defenders in Europe, it’s not easy.

“When people throw millions like that, I think they know what they’re doing. If they’ve got the millions, they must know what they’re doing with them.”

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand the concerns in Romania about Dragusin’s situation as they fear that he will be a little rusty at the Euros this summer.

However, there is no doubt that training with the calibre of players he is at Tottenham would be immensely beneficial for the youngster’s game and the centre-back will be a better player for it.
