Journalist Dean Jones is certain that a new central defender will arrive through the door at Hotspur Way before the transfer window closes.
Even though Spurs have strengthened their backline with the acquisition of Micky van de Ven, it has been widely reported over recent weeks that the North London club are looking to bring another centre-back in before the end of the transfer window (Football Insider).
That is not the only position that the Lilywhites are allegedly trying to strengthen, with the club also on the lookout for a midfielder (90 min) while there is also the small matter of replacing Harry Kane (GiveMeSport).
Several outlets have reported over the last few weeks that Spurs are prioritising offloading players in order to free up spaces for new signings, with some sources suggesting that as many as eight first-team players could leave the club (Sky Sports Football Daily).
Tottenham will sign another centre-back this week
Jones has now reiterated the same, and the journalist is confident new faces will arrive through the door at Tottenham this week.
He has now told GiveMeSport: “I’m definitely still expecting Tottenham to make some more signings. The problem that they’ve got at the moment is that a few of the players that they were looking to get out the door haven’t gone yet.
“So, I think that’s holding things up a little bit. But ultimately, they will end up signing a new centre-back, I’m certain of that. It’s been a real priority for them, and they will do it.”

In terms of incomings, it seems like Tottenham’s plan is to bring in a young striker such as Gift Orban, a versatile attacker like Brennan Johnson and a centre-back before the transfer window closes.
It does not seem as if the club are looking to add another central midfielder to the squad, with Hojbjerg’s move to Atletico now looking unlikely to go through.
