‘They will play together’ – Mourinho on the choice between Ndombele and Lo Celso

Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool in the Premier League tomorrow night and Jose Mourinho was asked whether it was difficult to choose between Lo Celso and Ndombele for the fixture.

The Spurs head coach has rotated the two creative midfielders this season, rarely playing both on the same pitch at the same time.

The general pattern in the Premier League has been for Ndombele to play until around the hour mark, before swapping him out for Lo Celso for the final 30 minutes.

However, Mourinho was adamant in his press conference that the situation was not difficult as he has two players to choose from. He also added that, once both are at peak physical condition, they can and will play together for Tottenham.

Despite this, Mourinho was keen to point out that his comments did not mean that Lo Celso and Ndombele would both start tomorrow, or next week, just some time in the future.

Mourinho said (Football London): “It’s not difficult. Difficult is when you don’t have any one of them. Can they play together? Yes. The physical condition for both is very important. To play with the two together, we need them to be fit and play with the right intensity. And they will. I’m not saying tomorrow or Sunday or next week but they will play together. It’s not a problem when I have both growing up and playing quite well.”
